Scandinavian white tailed deer barrette

The White Tailed Deer

by Kaitlyn Guenther
There once was a white tailed deer
Who thought spring was the best time of year
  Until he got wet
  'Cause a puddle he met
~Spring was no longer something to cheer~

With the holidays approaching I am finally closing in on finishing up my    Scandinavian jewelry line! Meet Bowie, I just finished making her today.

I spent a lot of time making this festive little deer.
Hand painted and suede back she leaps high above the stars and moon

Anyone who knows me knows I love, love, love, color !,So it only makes sense that I fell in love with Mindy's work right away.I just love how she paints animals with elongated legs.
It's  like they are walking on stilts !

There's a certain dreaminess to her work that you can't help but get lost in

I love this piece called tits and unicorns, a good day ! It's kinda edgy with a pop 80's feel to it .

Scandinavian doll house update!

After going bike riding today, I went home and decided it was time to get back to finishing up the dollhouse so the girls can finally move in.  I bought this awesome Silver Chrome spray paint by KRYLON . I have been in love with all the new types of paints they are coming out with .
                                                         Emily decided to help,lol

I wanted to make the doors and balcony Silver.
I thought it will pop against all the white outer and interior of the house,
and you know what ... it does
These were the doors before I started ..yuck!

This was it after I sprayed it !

I just love how this paint looks ^_^

I even did some charms !

Retro nail art you can do yourself at home

I got bored yesterday and decided to turn my nails into little works of art!
I did a funky retro 80's design on 'em.
First I picked out my colors !
Than painted each on a different color
I know my nails are kind of short but I have to keep'em that way because of my art work .
Anyway, take some clear type and paint it with different stripes of color !
Once dry you can cut little shapes out to stick on your nails
Here's how mine turned out . I know, a bit sloppy ! I got impatient.

Next time I'll take my time ,lol

Two of the most amazing artist

I have searched high and low for the artist who's work would compliment my new Scandinavian doll house.
I  am happy to say I have found two! The first one is Angela Petsis , and  it was her sweet dreamy deer that caught my attention  a few days ago.I have since bought the original encaustic painting  know as Dear Love . This painting is actually 4x4  so it  will fit perfectly in the girls new home
If you guys get a chance please drop in to her shop over at Etsy

The next artist who's work I adore is Kendra Binney . According to Kendra's profile she was raised in a small town with no shoe stores. Most of her time was spent barefoot searching the tall grass for  spiders and snakes, and other hidden treasures.

I fell in love with Kendra's whimsical paintings immediately . I went through Her shop and marked just about everything she had as a favorite !  It was incredibly hard for me to pick just one painting , but I manged to narrow it down to two of her pieces. And I like to add most of her work is on a small scale, so it's perfect for a doll house. Here are the two I'm deciding between .
This is a 4x7 . Tell me this doesn't take your breath away .
This can't go another way - limited edition print on wood with resin

This one is just as stunning as the other . And what I love about her work is the more you look at it the more stuff you find , kinda like a treasure hunt ,lol. This a 8x4 and it is so special to me because I raise painted ladies, which she has painted beautifully here.

If you want to see more of her incredible work I posted a link to her store !

little mouse

Today  I came across one of the cutest books ever!. So, I bought it,not to read but for the artwork. The whole book has the most amazing illustrations. Here are a few.

Not only is the artwork cute, but some parts of the book were written in rhyme. It reminded me of a short story I wrote a while back, it's about a little mouse that lives under the stairs.
I'm gonna post it for you guys.
There was a cute mouse that lived under the stair,
a lovely brown mouse with a pink ribbon in her hair.
She would creep into the kitchen to get a light snack,
store it in her plump cheeks and then scamper back.
She would sit by the window just below the fifth stair,
and look out the window eating her snack and primping her hair.
The view from the window looked onto a woods edge,
and there she would sit on the dusty windows ledge.
Then one day, as every day before, she went to the kitchen
                             and scampered under the door.
She took her place on the windows ledge to stare
out the window that lay just below the fifth stair.
When out of the edge of the woods by the road,
there hopped out a magnificent green toad.
She lifted her paw and as hard as she could,
she knocked on the window for the toad by the wood.
He heard her knocking from way over there
and spotted the mouse with the ribbon in her hair.
She lifted her paw once more just to say hi!
The toad waved then waved back and then ate a fly.
The two saw each other most every day,
The toad would eat a fly and the mouse would just wave.
Then one day the mouse feeling lonely as could be
Waved the toad over for some ginger tea.
The toad looked both ways before crossing the road,
and over to the window our little toad strode.
Then scuttling under the clear window pane
The toad sat with the mouse as it started to rain.

The finished Little Red Necklace

I finally finished the Little Red Riding Hood Necklace ..WOOT, WOOT !
All work and images © Avabunny 2012

As you guys can see I made it so it can be worn as two separate pieces. I went with only one hand painted little portrait because the woman buying it wanted it that way :(  So, I get to keep the other two, yay me!

I don't know if you can tell from the picture but I mounted the canvas piece to a strip of leather.

This is how I did it. I bought some soft leather , fabric glue, and  then went to work.

This is a picture of the back of the canvas piece after I mounted it to the leather.
                                                               Here's a  side view,lol

A silhouette of the BIG BAD wolf.

Yep back to little red again, lol.                                                    All work and images © Avabunny 2012

Okay, I have made a big decision regarding the necklace I'm working on. Because I can't choose which little portrait to go with for the cameo, I have decided to take all the little portraits and cut them out kinda like paper dolls and hang em off the necklace.

I believe they will be sturdy enough to do this because they were all painted on little canvas sheets.
This is my latest one,It's a silhouette of the wolf.

I have to give him a few more teeth up top, but other then that I like him.I made the teeth a little bit thicker then I normally would have because when I cut them out I don't want them to end up being to slender. Tho when I cut em out I will  shape them into more of point

I also wanted to show you guys some little charms I will be using in the necklace

When all of these little portraits dry I will flip em over and paint the backs with a mixture of Indigo and Ivory black. . I want them to look as though they were pulled from a burning fire.
I may even burn em a little ..I dunno tho.

On a side note: I was also messing around and drew a butterfly made out of flowers. it's far from done.                                                                 Yeah I known it's silly*~*
